Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply to using SandeepJaryal.com and to purchases of signed physical books directly through the website.
Last updated: 16 July 2026
About these terms
These terms cover three things: your use of SandeepJaryal.com, purchases of physical books made directly through the website, and the content and intellectual property published here.
Separate terms apply to advisory, consulting, speaking and other professional engagements. Those are agreed separately in writing and are not covered by this page.
Please read these terms alongside our Privacy Policy.

Using the website
You are welcome to read, share and link to the website for lawful personal or professional use. In return, we ask that you:
- use the site only for lawful purposes;
- do not attempt to interfere with, disrupt, probe or otherwise compromise the security or normal operation of the website;
- do not use automated tools in a way that places an unreasonable load on the site or is designed to scrape, harvest or abuse it.
The website is provided on a reasonable-endeavours basis. It may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance, upgrades or reasons outside our reasonable control, and its content is updated from time to time.
Website information and professional disclaimer
The articles, videos, books, diagrams and commentary on this website provide general information and personal or professional perspectives on cybersecurity, AI security and governance, and leadership. They are not a substitute for advice that considers your organisation’s specific circumstances.
Cybersecurity, AI, legal, financial and regulatory decisions should always be assessed in context, and where appropriate with suitably qualified professionals.
Viewing this website, buying a book or sending an enquiry does not create a client, advisory or consulting relationship. Professional engagements require a separate written agreement.
Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot be excluded by law — see section 18.
Products
The books offered directly through this website are physical paperback editions:
- The Cyber Mirage — signed paperback.
- The CISO Who Secured The Mind — launch edition, signed paperback.
- Cybersecurity Leadership Collection — both books, signed.
Signed copies are signed by the author. A standard signed copy is not a bespoke or personalised item; only a copy carrying a customer-requested name, dedication or inscription would count as personalised — see section 11.
Cover images and colours may vary slightly depending on your screen and on the specific print run.
The checkout does not currently collect a personalised dedication. If we introduce that option in future, the process and its effect on cancellation rights will be explained clearly before you order.
Prices
Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) on the product page. Printed books sold through this website are currently zero-rated for UK VAT. The price shown on the product page is the total amount payable.
Standard UK delivery is included in the displayed price where the product page says so, and it does so for every book currently sold directly here. There are no hidden compulsory charges added at checkout.
Occasionally an obvious pricing error may appear (for example, a price that is clearly wrong). Where that happens, we may contact you before dispatch to correct the price or to cancel the order and issue a full refund. We will not use this as a way to change the price of an order we have accepted for no good reason.
Placing an order and how the contract is formed
The order process is:
- you choose a product on the Buy Directly page;
- you enter the contact, billing and UK delivery details required by the checkout;
- you pay through Stripe’s secure checkout;
- the website displays an on-screen confirmation and sends an acknowledgement by email.
The on-screen and email acknowledgement confirms that we have received your order and your payment, and that your order is being prepared for dispatch. In the ordinary course we treat that acknowledgement as your confirmation of purchase.
If, exceptionally, we cannot fulfil your order — for example, if the book is unexpectedly unavailable, if we identify a genuine pricing error, or if we cannot deliver to the address supplied — we will notify you promptly and refund the amount you paid in full to the original payment method. You will not be charged for an order we cannot fulfil.
Payment
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Card details are entered directly into Stripe’s own secure fields; this website does not receive or store full card details.
Payment must be authorised before we prepare and dispatch your order. Stripe’s own terms and privacy notice apply to Stripe’s handling of your payment.
Delivery
Books are dispatched from the United Kingdom. We currently deliver only to addresses within the United Kingdom.
Once your order is confirmed for fulfilment, we aim to dispatch it within 2–3 working days. This is an anticipated dispatch time, not a guaranteed delivery date. Delivery itself then depends on the postal or courier service.
Under UK consumer law, unless we have agreed a specific date with you, we will deliver without undue delay and in any event within 30 days of the day after your order is placed. The books remain our responsibility until they are delivered to you or to the person you have nominated to receive them at the address you provided.
If something is not right with delivery, please contact us:
- Delayed order: write to books@sandeepjaryal.com with your order reference. We will check the dispatch status and follow up with the carrier where relevant.
- Marked as delivered but not received: contact us as soon as possible and we will investigate with the delivery provider and offer a suitable resolution.
- Wrong address supplied: tell us straight away. If the parcel has not yet been dispatched, we will try to correct the address. Where a parcel has already been sent to an incorrect address that you provided, we will do what we reasonably can to help, though additional postage may apply for a re-send.
Your right to change your mind (14-day cancellation)
For most standard, non-personalised books, you have a statutory right to cancel your order without giving a reason. This right runs from the moment the contract is formed until 14 days after the day you receive the book.
To cancel, simply tell us — a clear statement is enough. You can write to books@sandeepjaryal.com with your order reference. You do not have to use any particular form, but an optional template is provided at the end of this section.
After telling us you wish to cancel, you have 14 days to return the book to us. We may withhold the refund until we receive the book back or you provide evidence that you have sent it, whichever is earliest.
We will refund the price of the book, together with the standard delivery amount that is legally refundable. Because UK delivery is already included in the displayed price, there is no separate delivery amount charged to you at checkout to refund.
For a change-of-mind return, you are responsible for the cost of returning the book. This is a statutory arrangement and applies only where you have been informed of it before purchase — as we are doing here.
You may handle and inspect the book only to the extent reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and condition — much as you would when browsing a copy in a bookshop before buying it.
If a returned book shows handling that goes beyond that — for example significant reading wear, a creased spine, annotations, folded pages, staining or other deterioration — we may, where the law permits, reduce the refund to reflect the resulting loss in value. We do not apply blanket rules such as refusing refunds on opened books, and we do not charge restocking fees.
This section does not affect your separate rights if the book turns out to be faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed — see section 13.

- Order date: _____________________________________

Signed and personalised books
The books sold through this website are standard author-signed copies. Every copy is signed by the author as part of the ordinary signing routine — it is not made or altered to any individual customer’s specification. For the purposes of your cancellation rights, a standard signed copy is a standard book: being signed by the author does not, on its own, remove your statutory right to change your mind under section 10.
A book only counts as personalised where a customer has specifically requested a name, dedication, inscription or other bespoke personalisation that we have agreed to add. Under UK consumer law, the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to goods that have been produced to a customer’s personal specification in that way, once the personalised item has been produced.
This website does not currently offer personalised copies. The checkout does not collect a dedication or inscription, and standard orders placed through the website will not be treated as personalised. If we introduce a personalised option in future, the process — and its effect on cancellation rights — will be explained clearly before you order.
This section does not affect your rights if a book is faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed — see section 13. Those rights apply to personalised copies too.
Returns process
Whether you are returning a book because you have changed your mind, or because there is a problem with the order, please contact us first so we can help you through the process:
- write to books@sandeepjaryal.com with your order reference and a short description of the reason;
- we will confirm the return address and any specific handling instructions;
- package the book securely so it is not damaged in transit;
- obtain proof of postage — for a change-of-mind return we strongly recommend a tracked or signed-for service, as the return is at your risk until it reaches us.
A permanent return address will be added here once confirmed. Please do not send returns to an address that has not been provided by us for that specific order.
Faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed books
You have statutory rights if a book is faulty, damaged on arrival, not what you ordered, or does not match its description. These rights are separate from, and not limited by, the change-of-mind rights in section 10.
Please contact books@sandeepjaryal.com and include:
- your order reference;
- a short description of the issue;
- where helpful, photographs of the book and packaging — but these are not a strict condition of exercising your rights.
Depending on the circumstances, appropriate remedies may include a replacement, a refund, or another remedy the law provides. We will cover the reasonable cost of returning a faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed book.
Reporting a fault promptly helps us resolve the issue, but it is not the only remedy available to you — your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 continue to apply.
Refunds
Refunds are made to the original payment method used at checkout. We aim to process refunds without undue delay once we have received the returned book, or once we have agreed a refund in the case of a faulty, incorrect or undelivered order, and in any event within the periods required by law.
Once we have issued a refund, your bank or card provider may take additional time to make the funds visible in your account. Stripe’s internal references may be used by us for reconciliation and support purposes but are not shared with you unless needed to resolve a query.
Lost or delayed orders
If your order has not arrived within a reasonable time, please write to books@sandeepjaryal.com with your order reference. We will investigate with the delivery provider and, where appropriate, offer a replacement or a refund.
Intellectual property
The content of this website — including the text of the books, articles, diagrams, illustrations, branding, and other original materials created for the site — is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.
You are welcome to view the site, share links to it, and quote short passages with appropriate attribution for lawful personal or professional use. Content may not be reproduced, republished, redistributed, sold or commercially exploited without permission, except where the law expressly allows it.
Third-party logos, trademarks, client and employer names, quotations and embedded content (for example YouTube videos) belong to their respective owners and are used for identification and commentary. No ownership of those materials is claimed.
External links
The website may link to third-party websites and services for convenience or reference. Those sites operate under their own terms and privacy practices, and we are not responsible for their content. Where we knowingly recommend or integrate a specific service — such as Stripe for payments or YouTube for embedded videos — that is made clear in context.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under law. In particular we do not limit or exclude:
- liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- your statutory rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013;
- any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Subject to the above, and to the extent permitted by law, our liability arising out of or in connection with a book purchase is limited to what is reasonably foreseeable and, in any event, is not intended to cover business losses (such as loss of profits, loss of business, or loss of business opportunity) for customers using the website for business purposes.
Where the website is used for general information rather than a purchase, we do not accept responsibility for decisions taken solely on the basis of that content without appropriate professional advice — see section 4.
Professional advisory, consulting and speaking services are governed by separate written contracts, and any liability relating to those services is dealt with in those contracts.
Events outside our reasonable control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control — for example major postal or courier disruption, adverse weather, infrastructure or platform outages, or interruptions caused by acts of a public authority. Where such an event affects your order, we will take reasonable steps to minimise the impact and, where appropriate, offer a replacement or refund. This section does not remove your statutory delivery or refund rights.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong, we would rather hear about it and try to put it right.
- For book-order issues: books@sandeepjaryal.com
- For any other website matter: hello@sandeepjaryal.com
We will acknowledge complaints and aim to resolve them fairly and within a reasonable time.
Changes to these terms
The version of these terms that applies to your order is the version presented on the website at the time you placed the order. Later changes do not retrospectively alter orders that have already been placed.
The general website-use terms may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when the current version took effect.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Consumers based elsewhere in the United Kingdom retain any mandatory legal protections that apply where they live and may generally bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where they are based.
